I recently completed a professional
bike fitting at a local bike shop (Village Bikes) in preparation for
some triathlons. In the beginning I was skeptical about the value of
the process, it cost $200, but was amazed and pleased by the time it was completed. This was a 3 1/2 hour process of riding, adjusting, riding, adjusting, riding and adjusting all the while my fitter (Dale Phelps) provided all kinds of valuable information. While riding the bike was connected to a device that displayed a wide variety of data about my effort. I witnessed, via graphs and displayed data, how adjustments to my riding position improved my speed, power, and efficiency. I was most happily surprised at how changing my riding position improved how much more comfortable riding my bike is now.
I highly recommend having such a fitting done if you plan on competing on a bike or just want to be a lot more comfortable on your bike.
